Land Use
Permitting and contested proceedings
While much of our land use practice is dedicated specifically to environmental permitting, compliance, and the use and transfer of contaminated properties, we also handle a broad range of other types of land use planning and development in Rhode Island, including renewable energy projects.
Our group regularly appears before municipal planning and zoning boards, town councils, and commissions on projects which require plan approvals and special permits, or amendments to municipal ordinances. We defend or initiate appeals of local zoning decisions and have represented clients in contested land use litigation involving both private parties and municipalities.
A team approach at CGD
We work closely with our real estate group to facilitate development projects and financing with complicated land use considerations and restrictions.
